Hala Abo Freh

Hala Abo Freh is an artist, photographer and film editor. She lives and works in the city of Rahat in the Naqab and currently serves as the coordinator of the Raha Center for Plastic Arts in Rahat. Abo Freh holds a BA in Cultural Studies, Creativity and Production from the Sapir College and is a certified community facilitator artist by the Sapir College School of Art, Society and Culture.

Abo Freh’s photography and video works paint a world of fundamental meaning in the smallest of details. Her images are usually shot at eye level or a lowered gaze, focusing on details. Her subject of interest revolves around life under the threat of house demolitions in the Bedouin communities in the Naqab, which the state of Israel refuses to recognize. She also deals with questions of collective and personal memory, trying to recreate scenes stamped into her memory.

Her works have been exhibited in several group exhibitions, including, Rakia Mission (2022) at the Rakia Mission gallery, Tel Aviv, and Raha, which was presented in several venues throughout 2024, including Gallery Ibdaa in Kufr Yaseef, Own Studio gallery in Jerusalem and Yusef Zritsky the House of Artists in Tel Aviv.
