Farid Abu Shakra
Farid Abu Shakra, born in Umm al-Fahm in 1963, comes from a family of artists, including his brothers Walid and Said Abu Shakra, as well as his cousin Asim Abu Shakra, who was a painter. Between 1984 and 1988, Farid pursued his art education at the Kalisher Art School in Tel Aviv-Yafo.
In 1996, Farid was one of the founders of the Umm al-Fahm Art Gallery, established alongside his brother Said. During the period from 1996 to 2001, he held the position of curator for the gallery. In 2008, Farid was one of the founders of the House of Culture and Art in Nazareth and has since served as its curator and director.
Apart from his visual art endeavors, Farid Abu Shakra also writes poetry. Among his books are "The Colors of the Sunset" (Department of Arab Culture, Ministry of Education, 1993) "The Song of Liberation" (Private Publisher, 1991-1995), "Abdullah: The Song of the Body" (Raya, Haifa, 2013), "The Collection of All Songs" (Raya, Haifa, 2014).
His works are primarily in the medium of painting, where he presents figurative depictions that encompass various subjects, such as images of cats, airplanes, and more. Through his art, Farid conveys aspects of personal identity and political perspectives.
